May Design Series 2013

With last week's whirlwind of May Design Series and Clerkenwell Design Week probably feeling like a distant memory to visitors, I hope we are not the only exhibitors still trying to unpack boxes from the van!!


We had a great time exhibiting at Interiors LDN and met lots of buyers and designers who came to have a look at our printed flooring and wallpapers. We bumped into a few clients who had ordered from us recently and it was lovely to catch up and hear how their projects went. We ran out of Floorink samples and our wallpaper texture books by the end of the exhibition so are busy this week sending out copies to visitors who missed out.

After supplying Floorink to a number of schools, museums and visitor attractions, I think we had presumed most people knew that digital printing onto a vinyl floor was now an option for their own projects - but what the exhibition showed us was that we thought wrong! Everyone knows about custom printed wall murals, but hardly anyone had seen a custom printed floor before that comes with the high standards of construction and durability as Floorink. We recreated 4 recent projects on our stand; a school, a museum, a retail chain and The View from The Shard attraction; many visitors came to tell us they had been to that specific interior only a few weeks ago and didnt know where to buy similar flooring from (well now they do!).

We also met with manufacturers, designers and artists who want to collaborate with us, so we will have some exciting new products and designs to tell you about very soon.

Creative Retail Flooring - Milan 2013

During last week’s Salone del Mobile; where the world’s design community convened in Milan to celebrate the best in furniture and product design; Uberta Zambeletti showcased a collection of one-off dressed seats at her Wait and See store.

Uberta combined her years of experience in design and fashion to create the unique items on display in her “SeatOnMyFace” exhibition. She also designed a Trompe l’oeil flooring solution to enhance her interior. She approached Printed Space to turn her concept into practical and durable flooring. We reproduced her design onto our printable vinyl flooring, Floorink. Floorink, with its 4m widths, was a perfect choice as it could be printed as one large section of flooring – meaning a straightforward installation needed for the quick transformation.

We will be exhibiting our printed products at the new Interiors LDN show on 19^th - 21^st May. The Worlds Highest Floorink!

The highly anticipated opening of London's premium attraction at the pinnacle of The Shard earlier this year unveiled our highest installation to date - with Floorink installed on Level 33 - over 120 metres up from street level.

When visitors arrive at Level 33 from the ground floor of The View from The Shard, they transfer lifts through an all-enveloping graffiti map of London. Guests follow an image of the River Thames curving along the floor and see the capital mapped geographically around them in 200 sentences scrawled on the walls and floor, each describing a different area of the city, testing their trivia of London.

Clerkenwell Design Week is a three day festival in London's creative heart. Big design names and thought leaders host an exciting programme of workshops, presentations, exhibitions and debates. The festival will be filled with music, installations, parties and entertainment, truly celebrating design within this cultural hub. In 2010 London's design community flocked to Clerkenwell over the three days, with 18000 registered and over 150 events, 2011 promises to be even bigger and better!
